Kathy Fiedler has two porches from which to view the world: one on her tiny cabin west of Fairbanks, Alaska, and another on the Oregon coast. A semiretired editor of diverse technical texts, during the winter she walks the beaches between storms and bouts of wrestling with the challenge of watercolor painting; summers she spends drawing and writing in the boreal forests of Alaska's interior.
